Milestones

Milestones represent a special event in the course of the project. They are stages that can be used to check the intermediate goals that have been achieved and thus also to monitor the progress of the project. As a rule, milestones are located where

a phase is completed,
phases can be started,
or important decisions have to be made about the further course of the project.

But milestones can also lie within a project phase.

Milestones have the advantage that the progress of the project can be better monitored and thus certain risks can be minimized. They serve as an indication of what should be achieved by then or, if necessary, adapted to the project planning. They also serve as a goal orientation for the employees and create a sense of achievement.
