Target Value – Making Success Visible

Target values make it possible to visualise monthly successes, such as revenues. What successes do you want to achieve?

Hardly anything is more motivating than seeing that you are making progress and getting closer to a set goal. However, it is often difficult to make such progress visible and tangible at all. In individual projects this works well, but for employees who work on many projects in parallel it is often hard to assess their own performance. To solve this problem, projectfacts introduces the target value with version 6.5.

This function allows you to assign each employee a monthly target value. This refers to the revenue generated by the colleague. All billable hours in a month are totalled according to their hourly rates and compared against the target value. In the new “My Goals” tile, the employee can see directly how they are approaching their monthly target and can also evaluate their performance on a yearly basis.

Below you will find instructions showing you how to enter the target values and make them accessible to your colleagues.

Assigning target values

First, you need to activate the values in the system configuration. To do so, navigate to “Configuration” and select the “Users & Permissions” category on the left-hand side of the screen. Now click on the “Settings” tile. Scroll down to the “Remuneration” section. Here, set the “Target value” dropdown to “Visible”.

You can now assign the target values to your employees via the HR module. To do so, click on “HR” in the main navigation bar and then on “Employees”. Now select an employee. Then click on the “HR” tab and then on “Hourly Rates and Salaries”. Edit the employee’s current entry using the pencil icon. In the Target value section you can enter the monthly value that should apply to the colleague.

If you want to assign the same target value to multiple employees, you can alternatively use the multi-selection in the employee list.

Displaying the target value for employees

In order for your employees to be able to view their own goal achievement, two settings need to be made. Navigate back to “Configuration”. Go to the “Users and Permissions” category again and this time select the “User Groups” tile. Now select a group that should be able to see the target value. In the “Permissions” tab, open the “Permissions – Navigation Menu” section. Under “Time Recording”, tick “My Goals” and under “Projects” tick “Employee Overview”.

Displaying the target value for team leaders

If you as a team leader or member of management want to have an overview of your colleagues’ goals, you can show the target values in the employee list in the HR module. To do so, open the filter settings and add “Target value analysis” under “Active columns”.
