Stakeholder Analysis

Definition

The term stakeholder analysis refers to the identification of interest groups and their influence on certain decisions. The goal of the stakeholder analysis is to identify these relevant reference groups and to create a targeted communication plan.

In projects, it is important to identify these people, with their diverse influences, values, ideas, and qualifications, and to find out how they can ultimately impact the project.

Based on the analysis, project managers can now determine who acts in which way and for what reason, and how negatively disposed individuals (or groups) can be persuaded or neutralised. The goal is not to please everyone, but to be aware of their interests, influences, and values.

On the basis of the stakeholder analysis, a communication plan is then developed.
