Tasks of human resource management
Human resource management covers the work of the personnel/HR department. This deals with, among other things:
- Personnel planning:
e.g. determining short- or long-term staffing needs, qualifications, etc.
- Recruitment / applicant management:
internal or external job postings
- Personnel administration:
Recording personal data, communication
- Personnel development:
Supporting employees / further training
- Employee retention:
Measures that make the company more attractive, e.g. childcare, flexitime, etc.
- Controlling:
Monitoring and managing work performance
- Wages and salaries:
Payment of wages and salaries, commissions, bonuses, holiday pay, Christmas bonuses, etc.
Goals of human resource management
Today, a company’s employees are considered its most important resource (also called “human capital”). Human resource management has the task of conveying to employees that they make an important contribution to the company’s success.
In addition to achieving company objectives, employee satisfaction is one of the highest goals of human resource management. This must be achieved and subsequently maintained.
Through a long-term and satisfied bond, barely any new costs arise, for example because absences due to illness and the staff turnover rate decrease. These two points are simultaneously important strategic key figures for your HR department.
