Kanban

Definition

Kanban originates from Japanese and roughly means “visual signal”. Today it is a method for managing tasks or production processes. For Kanban one uses a kind of board or board, which is classically divided into three columns – “Open Tasks”, “In Progress” and “Done”. It serves as an information overview of which tasks still need to be completed, which are being worked on and which have already been processed.

Due to the complexity of today’s production systems, the use of a digital, IT-supported Kanban board is indispensable. Changes can be made quickly and from any workstation, enabling faster responses when bottlenecks or problems arise.
