Definition
The abbreviation QR stands for “Quick Response”. A QR Code is a graphic covered with small dots or lines that form a pattern. These represent an electronically readable code. By scanning the code, you can retrieve the information behind the QR Code relatively quickly.
Structure of a QR Code
A QR Code basically consists of a square. In three corners of the square there are smaller squares that the scanner uses to align itself. In the remaining area, dots are arranged so that they form a pattern containing information. Classically, the QR Code is white with a black pattern. In the meantime, however, QR Codes can also be individualised, e.g. through colours or logos.
A QR Code can contain the content of about one DIN A5 page. That is approx. 4500 letters and numbers or up to approx. 7000 digits.
Areas of application for QR Codes
QR Codes can be found almost everywhere today. On flyers, posters, buses, tickets, etc. With a smartphone or tablet, the QR Code can be read directly using the camera or a scanner app. The following contents can be embedded in a QR Code:
- URL
- vCard (contact information)
- Location
- Text
- Pre-written emails / SMS
- Automatic Wi-Fi connection
- Image
- Invoice data
- etc.
Giro Code and Swiss QR Code
QR Codes can also be found on many invoice documents today. These make it easier for you to make transfers and reduce errors. In Germany, there is the so-called Giro Code for this purpose. In Switzerland, it is now even mandatory to include a Swiss QR Code on the invoice.
The Giro and Swiss QR Code basically contain all invoice data, from account holder, IBAN, BIC, amount through to the reference number.
By scanning the code, you can make the transfer quickly and easily in just a few steps. The risk of incorrect postings is reduced.
QR Codes with projectfacts
Create your invoices with Giro or Swiss QR Code conveniently with projectfacts. During invoice creation, the QR Code is automatically attached to the invoice depending on the configuration. All in accordance with legal requirements!
