Bug

Definition

In the IT field, a bug refers to an error in the code of a software. This causes the software to not execute correctly or to stop functioning altogether. This can lead to problems such as security vulnerabilities. So-called debuggers are used to find and fix errors in code.

“Bug” comes from English and means “insect”. This can be traced back to Thomas Edison in the 19th century, as insects repeatedly interfered with the functionality of his inventions.
