Wiki

Definition

The term wiki refers to a website whose content can be read and edited directly by page visitors. It is a collection of knowledge and experience where authors can add or modify texts or media. Content is systematically categorised or assigned tags so that it can easily be found again. To ensure the quality of entries, a review by others can be set up.

Tasks & Functions of Wikis

The main function of a wiki lies in the editing mode of the content and not in the layout or design of the website. Everyone should be able to edit it on the website quickly and easily without extensive knowledge.

Internal and External Wikis

Wikis can be made available publicly on the World Wide Web, but also in local networks, for specific user groups or locally on a PC.

In addition, user groups can be assigned restricted rights, such as read access.
