In project management, a predecessor is a task that precedes another task. The dependency between the two tasks is the decisive factor, not the chronological sequence. A predecessor can also have multiple successors.
In order to identify a predecessor, it must be determined which task must already be completed. Using a Gantt chart or a network diagram, these can be displayed graphically.
