Definition
Collaboration derives from English and means “working together”.
Social Collaboration generally refers to people working together in a team. Often, collaboration also refers solely to the technical implementation of teamwork, e.g. a Social Collaboration Platform or collaboration tools.
Particular importance is given to tools in the field of E-Collaboration. These are tools that support the cooperation of geographically distributed teams. Such collaboration tools are typically web-based and are often only usable online.
Collaboration is also understood as a component of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and a solution for collaborative work within a team, also known as “groupware”. It enables efficient cross-team and cross-location collaboration. It can also be used by external service providers and customers. In this way, different information and files can be made available at the right time and in the right place.
